The firm's real estate department is headed by Mary Ann Kenny Pidgeon. Mrs. Pidgeon, who is a member and Past President of the Real Estate Section of the Mercer County Bar Association, has handled thousands of residential and commercial real estate closings throughout New Jersey. Mrs. Pidgeon is assisted by her partner John Pidgeon and the firm's paralegal Carol Nuel who has more than twenty-five years experience in the field.

As your attorneys in a real estate transaction, we will represent your interests every step of the way, starting with the contract. Contracts prepared by Realtors must have an attorney review period. It is imperative that you get us the contract during that period so that we can make any changes that are necessary.

If you are the buyer, the contracts will contain contingencies which must be met before the closing can occur. Typically contracts include contingencies for a mortgage commitment, home inspections (including engineering, radon, termite, well and septic) and marketable title.

It will also be necessary to obtain a title insurance binder and survey for the closing. We order those items on your behalf prior to the closing. We also work with your mortgage company to prepare the mortgage closing documents and we work with your mortgage company and the attorney on the other side to prepare the closing statement. We will attend the closing with you and after the closing, we will record the deed and the mortgage with the county clerk. When the recorded deed is returned to us, we send it to you along with the original title insurance policy.
